Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Marisa Molina was raised in Havana, Cuba, and returned to the United States with her family in 1982. She began her musical studies with the piano at a very early age, in Havana. In 1966, she was granted a voice scholarship with the internationally acclaimed soprano Iris Burguet at the Amadeo Roldán Conservatory, where she met her husband, the classical guitarist Carlos Molina. Once in Miami, she continued her voice studies with the mezzo-soprano Diane Mauch at Miami-Dade College. In 1996, she graduated with the renowned Cuban tenor Cesar Antonio Suárez and his wife Geraldine Suárez-Novak at Florida International University, together with a minor in French Language.

Marisa has participated in different vocal groups in Cuba and the United States, including the University of Miami’s Civic Chorale, the Greater Miami Opera Choir, and St. John Neumann Festival Choir. Following her graduation, she did the role of Micaela in excerpts from Carmen at the Merrick Festival of Coral Gables. Shortly after, she began performing together with her husband, offering unique renditions of music for voice and guitar in various venues in the United States.

In July 1999, Marisa and Carlos had their first duo performance in Europe at the Conservatoire Britten of Périgueux, France. In March 2001, they offered a concert with Joaquín Rodrigo’s music for voice and guitar, honoring his 100 th birthday in Miami. Since then, they have been featured at the International Guitar Festivals of Vélez-Málaga, Coria, Hondarribia, and Aranda del Duero in Spain. In Italy, the Duo has performed in the International Festivals of Potenza, Bisceglie, and Pescara, in addition to concerts in Miami, Florida. Most recently, they have performed in the University of Veracruz in Xalapa, Mexico, at the Eastfield College in Dallas, Texas, at the International Festival of Fiuggi, Italy, and in the Miami Classical Guitar Society concert series.
